Job requirements

You will manage a small team who will select a suite of automation tools and frameworks and design and implement automated tests for our Digital, Lead Generation, Lead Management and Customer Relationship, Sales and Case Management platforms.

Our platforms comprise an integration of numerous 3rd party and in-house custom products. The Team Leader is highly motivated with solid hands-on automation testing experience. You will be key in leading the team to the next level using your knowledge of QA automation best practices and your tenacious approach to expanding the team’s role, visibility and value to IT and the Business.

The successful candidate will have experience leading a team in designing, building and executing automated UI, API and back-end tests. You will have evaluated and selected automation tools and frameworks in the past and have an advanced knowledge of different automation techniques and tools. Good communication is a must as you will need to work with the rest of quality engineering and other teams to identify candidates for automation. You will prioritize automation opportunities and create, maintain and publish the automation road map for the team.

The specific responsibilities include:

  • Review and select test automation tools and frameworks that are suited to our environment and integrate with existing tools.
  • Lead a small team to design and implement frameworks and create and execute automated tests.
  • Maintain the automation road map.
  • Partner with the rest of quality engineering and development to identify opportunities for automation and prioritize.
  • Investigate defects in systems and technology to pinpoint the potential cause for failed tests.
  • Coordinate with the Business Analysts and Developers on different teams to work through application defects.
  • Manage, mentor and provide technical leadership on the day-to-day tasks and priorities of the automation team.
  • Implement, gather and report on team/project activities and metrics to track business value.
  • Ensure the appropriate environments exist to support automation testing.

What you need to be successful

  • 5+ years of quality engineering test automation experience with web (UI & API) and desktop aps.
  • 2+ years as a team leader managing small-medium automation teams in complex technical & matrixed environments.
  • Knowledge of the quality assurance process and software development life-cycle.
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile frameworks.
  • An outgoing, positive and assertive personality. A self-starter who works well with peers and others but is not afraid to speak up. A naturally curious and tenacious problem solver.
  • Hands-on programming experience with C# and JavaScript.
  • Hands on experience with various automated testing tools Selenium WebDriver, TestComplete, UFT or similar test tool(s).
  • Hands on web service testing experience using Visual Studio, JMeter, SoapUI, SoapSonar
  • Extensive working knowledge of designing/maintaining test automation framework(s)
  • Experience generating/maintaining test cases from requirements, specifications, and exploratory methods.
  • Experience testing web applications across multiple browsers and operating systems including mobile.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver test reports on testing progress and system performance.
  • Advanced English skills and the ability to clearly communicate both written and orally in English.
  • An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.

What we would LOVE to see!

  • Mobile automation experience.
  • Experience with performance testing tools, comfortable in installing, configuring, maintaining and administering performance testing tool.
  • Knowledge of Jira for defect management.
  • Knowledge of Hiptest, other test management tools.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) build environments using TeamCity, Gitlab or a comparable solution.
