In this role, you’ll join a pivotal project footprint centered on SQL Server at scale—approximately 10x larger than our Postgres/Oracle footprint—while also architecting Agentic AI frameworks to automate database operations. You’ll contribute to building autonomous agents that reduce manual toil, with production guardrails, and develop AI-enabled tooling that interoperates with internal APIs and telemetry to drive reliability and efficiency across the data platform. This project sits at the intersection of robust data engineering, high-availability database operations, and intelligent automation, aligned with Niuro’s commitment to technical excellence and continuous professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary SQL Server Subject Matter Expert for the largest database footprint, owning high availability (Always On), performance tuning, disaster recovery, and ongoing stabilization efforts.
• Lead the design and implementation of agentic AI solutions to automate database operations, including incident triage, log analysis, and self-healing workflows, using frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen.
• Build autonomous agents that go beyond basic automation, creating AI-driven tools that interact with internal APIs and telemetry to reduce repetitive manual work and enable proactive remediation.
• Collaborate with platform engineers, data engineers, and DevOps to ensure production guardrails, security, and compliance across all automated processes.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders, document engineering decisions, and contribute to code reviews, testing strategies, and best practices.
• Continuously improve database performance, capacity planning, and operational efficiency in AWS or Azure cloud environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Deep SQL Server expertise (5+ years) managing mission-critical SQL Server environments, with a strong grasp of internals, locking, and query optimization at a granular level.
• Proven experience in building at least one “smallest AI automation” and discussing specific models/frameworks beyond simple API calls.
• Strong Python/scripting skills and hands-on experience operating cloud-native databases in AWS or Azure.
• Engineering mindset with a passion for systemic improvements, reliability, and scalable automation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with a focus on producing production-grade solutions.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with n8n or similar automation tools as a baseline, but a track record of building AI-driven systems that surpass simple workflows is highly valued.
• Familiarity with AI safety, guardrails, and governance in production systems.
• Prior exposure to incident management, SRE practices, and disaster recovery planning.
• Knowledge of other database systems (PostgreSQL, Oracle) for context, though primary focus is SQL Server.
